In addition a loft conversion is a creative, practical & cost effective way to boost the value of your property.

You may want to convert the loft into a range of functional rooms. Typically these include bedroom, office or living space. A testimonial & associated gallery for a recent loft conversion can be found by clicking here.
The first stage of a loft conversion will be a detailed inspection of the loft space noting the exact dimensions to determine if the conversion is feasible.
Indications of signs of rainwater entering the roof space will also be checked.
Any necessary roof repairs are usually carried out as part of the loft conversion process.
While there are a number of loft conversion types the following two are the most common.
Roof windows are a popular option as they don’t require any restructuring of the roof & can provide significant amounts of light in.
In addition while they do require building regulation approval, they don’t need planning permission & can be built under permitted development rights.
These involve restructuring the roof to accommodate vertical windows. Consequently they do require building regulations.
By extending the loft space beyond the angle of the original roof they do provide additional space & headroom within the loft which can improve staircase access.
Alongside the roof window and dormer conversions described above there are various other types including 'hip to gable' and 'mansard' conversions. These are built in response to particular circumstances that require their features.
